Fox HR is an HR consultancy based in Wolverhampton, working with small and growing businesses across the West Midlands and the wider UK.
People tend to reach us one of two ways. Sometimes it’s crept up gradually – the team has grown, the people side of things is eating into the week, and managers are handling things they were never trained for. Other times it’s sudden. A grievance has landed, a disciplinary has gone sideways, someone’s muttering about a tribunal, and it needs sorting now.
Either way, you don’t need a full in-house HR team. You need it handled properly, by someone who knows what they’re doing and won’t drop you in it further. If something’s already blown up, we get stuck in and steady it. If it hasn’t yet, we deal with issues early, before they get expensive, and bring some structure as you grow, so you can get on with running the place.
What you won’t get with us is a call centre or a different name every time you ring. You’ll work with the same small, experienced team who know how you and your business operate, and who stay close enough to spot a problem before you’ve noticed it yourself.
A few things we believe
- People make a business work; they’re not a risk to be managed. Most of our advice starts there.
- Looking after your people and protecting your bottom line aren’t opposites. Done properly, they’re the same thing.
- We’ll tell you the awkward thing early rather than the comfortable thing late. It’s usually cheaper that way, and always fairer.
- You should be able to act on our advice the moment you put the phone down. So we give it to you in plain English, not HR speak.
- Confidentiality isn’t a clause tucked into the contract. It’s most of the job.
- This work is often stressful and high-stakes, and we treat it that way. We’re also human, and we believe a bit of warmth and humour goes a long way when you’re in the thick of it.
Hi, I’m Laura, founder and Managing Director.
I’ve spent more than 15 years in HR, over half of it in consultancy, which is a polite way of saying there aren’t many people problems a business can throw up that I haven’t handled at least once. I’ve done it across a real spread of sectors too: construction, manufacturing, professional services, digital marketing, luxury travel, healthcare and rail. Different worlds, same human beings underneath.
I set up Fox HR in 2022 because I kept seeing growing businesses land one of two ways. They were either paying for HR they didn’t need, or going without until something went badly wrong. I wanted to offer the bit in the middle. Proper, expert support that doesn’t talk down to you and actually picks up the phone.
I’ve got a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management behind me, but the qualification clients tend to value most is that I’ve usually seen their situation before and know how it plays out.
Fun fact: my first job was in a Chinese takeaway. Twenty-odd years on, I’ve forgotten plenty, but not that a 92 was chicken chow mein.
